rasa-ayana for us is rasa-journey – aesthetic journey.

The radiance of the autumnal moon, the single flower our potted cactus puts out every year – perfect as a little jewel-, the memorable fragrance of lemon leaves, and the magic that is music

  • All these constitute our rasa-journey – our rasa-yatra.

Our rasAyana.

The contents of the blog are to be viewed as a Work-In-Progress and not as a finished product . Hence photographs , articles , Media Links will be updated as and when we come across material that helps in showcasing an image of the artist , as we see it.

To some extent , we will try to highlight the updates , but it would be worthwhile to keep re-looking at the pages for a new photograph or a track

There is delicate balance that is sought to be achieved here–

between Great Masters , and Lesser known practitioners .

between Carnatic Music, and Hindusthani Music

Back in the 70s , one day the newspaper carried a report of Indira Gandhi Lowering a Time Capsule Deep into the safe custody of Mother Earth . The capsule reportedly contained a historic cache of goods and information, intended as a method of communication with future people.Should we ever be visited by an uninvited meteor, which would obliterate carefully built histories .

And we all sat , in a huddle , working out our own time capsule of Music . Dad, Myself and Sister. We were allowed to put in only one bit of music per artist so that future generations would know about them ,  in case another meteor hit our planet earth. And produced a long spell of silence .Like the ones that took the dinosaurs away. It was a fascinating exercise .

So fascinating as an educational tool , that I am tempted to reopen the capsule and have a re look at the contents today. In the light of all the development that has taken place within my grey cells.

Since we cannot do just with one bit of Music per artist , we have jettisoned that rule . 🙂

So read on and listen. Take your time in Our Hall of Fame . Hope you have a great time here ….

  1. That’s so lovely. I remember when I was considering my move here, I knew it would be difficult to be away from family, but no one cou2&d#8l17;ve prepared me for exactly what that meant. The enormity of the decision to miss their lives. Would I have done it anyway? Definitely. It’s the price we pay, but it’s a very high price. Maybe one day someone will discover the secret to time travel and this won’t be an issue. *lol*
