    Kulkarniji,

This is so nostalgic! You took me to that period for about 10 mins that I was viewing these photos. Being among musicians and on the stage in various paces, I could relive the moments in every photo

Thanks TVR . Hope your concert went well yesterday . I also hope , you got a copy of your todi swarajathi at sivagami petatchi. Yes these photos are an important part of our history . Hope to add some tracks as I go along . Wish I had the resources to go to all the photo studios in South India in search of such photos lying in old drawers or as negatives . The ones in which the listeners are thronging in all four directions are great . Such simple pandals . .such great atmospheres.

  5. Just wonderful… Thanks so much for the pics sir..

  6. Rasayana says:

Thanks. Now why don’t you demystify the Thani for folks like me . If you have liked it .I put it up for sheer atrmosphere

  7. Haven’t seen such an excellent collection of memories before. Thanks very much.

  8. Excellent photos of the great Mani iyer in concerts with lot many legendary vocalists and instrumentalists. very nice collections. thanks to those who hv put in great efforts in
bringing out such treasure of photographs of the great maestro.
However i feel that this collection of photographs depicting the maestros musical journey is not complete without inclusion of photographs of Kacheries with srimathi DK Pattammal and the ones with the legendary Madurai Mani iyer

This year being the centinary year of Sri MMI and Palghat Mani iyer. Both of them are great and hv given together many many outstanding and memorable performances together during the golden era of carnatic music.both were born in the same year and Palghat Mani Iyerval used to reportedly say that he was born in the same year as that of Madurai Mani Iyer!
I am sure there may be photos available of the maestros together in concert.Grateful if these photographs of the maestros to gether is also included.

Thanks Srkris , for dropping in .
Arun. Yes these pages are a bit of a work in progress . I have mentioned it somewhere . Hope to get the photos of the combos you mention. I have not yet worked on a page for MM Iyer with my collection of photos .Normally I do not rush with this work and take my own slow time . I started this only after I was fascinated by the beauty of good resolution BW photos on larger pc screens . It was like bringing them all to life . I have done only serious work with few artists . May be I should rush it up with MMIyer to catch up with the centenary mood . Let me see .

  12. Rasayana says:

So True . My (Late) Father would describe all artists as angels sent from heaven to educate us , entertain us . make us nobler . Cant think of a life today without Music . Even for a single day . This is the gift of all these great artists to us . Something we can never pay back . But only pass on .

Terrific archive of PMI photos! While most of the big names are recognizable there are still a few I couldn’t spot. Will be great if the photos can be tagged with names.

  14. Rasayana says:

Thanks Mohan . Hope to do the tagging on a long term basis
